The Village at Morrisons Cove is currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Records Coordinator to join our team. As the Medical Records Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate and organized medical records within our long term care facility.
Job Summary:
As the Medical Records Coordinator at The Village, you will be responsible for managing medical records, utilizing medical terminology and systems to ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of patient information. You will work closely with healthcare professionals to maintain efficient record-keeping processes.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain medical records in compliance with regulatory standards
- Utilize medical terminology and systems to accurately document patient information
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all patient records
- Assist healthcare providers in retrieving and updating patient records as needed
- Collaborate with other staff members to streamline record-keeping procedures
- Conduct audits to verify the accuracy and completeness of medical records
Additionally,
- Type memos, letters and other communications for nursing department
- Participate in committee meetings as requested
- Records meeting minutes, distributes minutes
- Types revisions to policy and procedures
- Photocopying for nursing department
- Transcribes physicians' progress notes for those physicians who dictate
- Code new diagnoses
- Other duties as assigned
- Maintain quality assurance of medical records
Requirements:
-High School diploma or GED; Degree in Medical Records or related field preferred
- Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of medical records systems
- Experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
