Job Description:
DTN is looking for an Assistant Controller to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing the daily global accounting functions as well as developing, documenting, and improving processes and implementing automation to increase effectiveness. This position ensures the accounting team has timely and accurate monthly and annual financial closings. You will also be responsible for the direction and management of employees, fostering a positive team environment. The ideal candidate will also help with technical accounting.
DTN’s Assistant Controller role can be remote within the United States and will report to our VP of Finance.
What you will be responsible for:
Manages and executes the global month-end close processes & reporting to ensure financial data in compliance with GAAP, group, and company policies
Oversees the global revenue accounting close and reporting ensuring accurate results are delivered on time for reporting in accordance with US GAAP
Assists with the review of contracts with non-standard terms impacting revenue recognition including technical accounting conclusions
Reviews account reconciliations for appropriate completion and adherence with GAAP & IFRS
Leads efforts to improve, simplify, and automate current processes
Implements & maintains consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all regions and in accordance with DTN’s parent company
Oversees year end audit processes as they key liaison with the company's external auditors
Partners with FP&A for the preparation of the annual budget, rolling forecast, and revenue/expense analysis
Successfully leads, develops, and manages direct reports to promote career development
Prepares memos for various technical accounting issues as they arise and perform research of accounting principles as needed to conclude on such issues
Leads the implementation of new or emerging accounting pronouncements or any accounting issues that need attention and takes a lead accounting role on projects and accounting changes
Partners with other departments in the organization on new system implementations and acquisition integrations
Works cross functionally to strengthen the internal control environment, system enhancement, and automation
What you will bring to the role:
8+ years of relevant experience, including working 3-5 years for a top-tier public accounting firm
Experience working in SaaS industry
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
Proficient in accounting software and Excel. Preferred experience in Salesforce, Workday, and Adaptive Planning
Understanding of relevant accounting principles and their implications on accounting & reporting including specifically ASC 606 & IFRS 15
Ability to work independently as a highly motivated self-starter, as well as part of a larger accounting and finance team
Excellent technical accounting knowledge and research skills in US GAAP & IFRS including long-term project accounting and revenue recognition standard
Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead change in a complex organization
Excellent problem-solving, verbal communication, and written communication skills

The targeted hiring base pay range for this position is between $139,500 and $170,500. DTN is a pay for performance organization, which means there is the opportunity to advance your compensation with performance over time. The actual base pay offered for this position will be dependent upon many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, training/education, transferable skills, business needs, internal equity and applicable laws. The targeted hiring base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for market competitive variable pay and benefits.
