POSITION TITLE: Pool Substitute Teacher
CONTRACT YEAR: Ten Months (180 Days)
PAY GRADE: Substitute Teacher Salary Schedule
(The Board will only provide retirement, FICA and workers compensation benefits.)
QUALIFICATIONS: Education – Earned sixty (60) semester credit hours from
an accredited institution. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Special Qualifications - Attend and complete the Substitute Teacher Training Workshop during the current school year. Pool substitute will have the full year to complete this training. Must qualify for a Broward County Substitute Teaching Certificate.
Bilingual skills preferred. Computer skills as required for the position.

ACCOUNTABILITY: School Principal
SUPERVISION: None
GOAL: To create and maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning and to provide positive educational experiences for all students.
ACCOUNTABILITY
PROCEDURES: The Principal/administrator will assess the effectiveness of the Pool Substitute Teacher annually with respect to the performance of specific responsibilities.
PERFORMANCE
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Pool Substitute Teacher shall
1. have a minimum of 180 student days of employment during the school year, minus any days of absence.
2. report to the specified school each day, if the specified school does not need a substitute teacher, then report to a school in the zone which does need a substitute teacher.
3. assume the student supervision responsibilities of the regular teacher.
4. be responsible for accurately reporting homeroom attendance in accordance with the procedures at the assigned school.
5. maintain good classroom control, discipline and management.
6. follow the lesson plans provided by the teacher and develop lesson plans, where appropriate, approved by the department head or the team leader.
7. teach up to a maximum of seven (7) periods per day.
8. Pool Substitutes may be required by the Principal to participate in Innovation Zone activities during the Pool Substitutes regular workday.
9. administer discipline, in accordance with Florida Statutes, regulations of the state board, and policies of the School Board. Corporal punishment is forbidden.
10. be familiar with assigned school's procedures (i.e. bell schedule, fire drill procedures, school discipline plan).
11. conform to all rules and regulations that may be prescribed by federal and state laws, as well as the School Board of Broward County.
12. participate, successfully, in the training programs mandated by the district to increase the individual's skill and proficiency related to the assignment.
13. review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibility.
14. ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
15. perform other duties as assigned by the principal/or designee.
