JOB SUMMARY
The Certified Peer Specialist – PT/PRN assists with service coordination and service delivery to those receiving peer support services. The incumbent aids and supports consumers through recovery orientation from a lived experience and perspective.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience:
· Minimum of 2 years of work experience.
· Training experience and/or attendance at consumer conferences is a plus.
· Desire to disclose a lived experience with behavioral health services and/or recovery orientation.
Licenses, Certifications & Clearances:
· Certified Peer Support (CPS) Certification
· Act 33/34 Clearances
· FBI Clearance
· Valid State of PA Class 1 Drivers License
· Access to properly insured motor vehicle for client transportation and fieldwork and a safe driving record

Mental Illness and/or Substance Abuse Requirements:
· Knowledge of community support systems/resources (local meetings, options, etc.).
· Ability to identify and support symptoms of the MISA population.
· Ability to identify and support differences in the MISA population compared to the SPMI population.
· Ability to identify symptoms of and support those who experience co-morbid symptoms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Ensures the opening/closing of the center and performs appropriate appliance checks.
· Provides Certified Peer support to those requesting this service.
· Communicates with consumers, therapists, and the support staff providing services.
· Assists consumers with the development of personal goals and seeking additional resources that support said goals.
· Reports to both the Direct Supervisor and Recovery Manager for ongoing case-consultation and support.
· Encourages consumer participation and assertiveness/advocacy development.
· Distributes information regarding recovery-oriented services and linkages to those receiving services.
· Maintains records and files according to the provisions of the setting/position.
· Addresses all issues of fraud, waste, and/or abuse as they arise and proactively looks for ways to prevent instances of fraud, waste, and abuse in the service delivery system and work systems of the agency as described in the agency Compliance Plan.
· First Episode Psychosis (FEP) Coordinated Specialty Care Team (CSC):
o Uses a variety of educational materials, brief intervention techniques, and community resources to engage and increase consumer motivation to manage their chronic behavioral and medical conditions
o Utilizes standardized intervention techniques and community resources to support consumers in achieving their goals
o Promotes shared decision-making and works within a team of specialists who work with the consumer to create a personal treatment plan
§ The specialists offer psychotherapy, medication management geared to consumers with FEP, family education and support, case management, and work, education, or peer support, depending on the transition aged consumer’s needs and preferences
o Establishes the Relapse Prevention Plan and follow-up schedule with the consumer, as well as monitors consumer’s progress throughout the maintenance phase
o Clearly and effectively communicates with the Collaborative Care Team and specialty providers via written, electronic, and oral reports
