Purpose

The School Based Medical Manager provides program leadership to ensure that care provided meets Neighborcare Health’s goals for quality, productivity, and patient satisfaction. Ensure School-based Health Centers (SBHC) operate within the guidelines set by Neighborcare management team and in accordance with laws and regulations. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the SBHC Medical Manager works with all members of the care team to provide quality patient care. The SBHC Medical Manager supports School-based Health Program lead team in developing, implementing and/or improving systems that affect and/or enhance clinic care and quality. The SBHC Medical Manager works collaboratively with the SBHC Clinical Supervisor on implementing the complex systems and processes necessary for the provision of school-based medical services. The SBHC Medical Manager is responsible for direct supervision of the SBHC Clinical Supervisor and SBHC Medical Provider team and supports clinical care improvement, quality, standards, policies and procedures for the medical care and health educators. The SBHC Medical Manager consults, collaborates, and implements clinic standards in cooperation with Neighborcare leaders and works in partnership and joint accountability with other team members to achieve Neighborcare’s Mission, Core Values, and Goals.

In this position you will:

Direct Clinical Work

Provide patient centered preventative care as well as, diagnoses and treatment of acute and chronic conditions,
Identify the need for referrals and provide overall care coordination in a team based setting

Indirect Clinical Work

Assure accurate and timely completion of all clinical records
Complete paperwork in a team-based approach
Complete necessary paperwork for patient care. Such as, prior authorizations and communications with outside specialists
Timely response to communications and test results
Provide feedback to appropriate teams and/or individuals when necessary

Supervision

Provide ongoing coaching and support to providers and other clinical staff related to clinical medicine, workflow, and patient experience of care
Provide supervision to providers through direct interactions or chart review
Work to ensure programs follow best clinical practices
Hire, train and orient providers on clinical operations and functions
Address individual safety or performance issues, develop mitigation plans and coordinate with the SBHC Lead Team and/or the HR Team as needed

Administrative Duties

Monitor and communicate productivity to providers in partnership with clinic supervisor
Participate in NeighborCare leadership meetings and leadership development activities
Be a clinical champion for quality goals and QI work
Resolves issues identified by the team and escalates to the site lead team as needed
Leads a team of support staff to assure services meet or exceed the expectations of patients, coworkers, the public, and community standards
Develop and implement organization and strategic goals and key performance indicators
Assist in credentialing of staff, trainees and volunteers
Other assigned duties as needed

Key Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Required for this job:

Ability to work in a high pressure, time-sensitive, and complex health care environment.
Ability to effectively work with individuals of varying ethnicities, socio-economic levels, varying languages, cultures and sexual orientations
Ability to work with patients that have substance or mental disorders
Ability to treat opioid use with medication assisted treatments
Ability to meet and comply with HIPAA/Confidentiality policies and procedures and to handle confidential and sensitive patient and staff information
Experience working with interpreters in a medical setting
Demonstrate the ability to conduct discussions of a sensitive nature with staff and patients
Ability to build relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Ability to communicate effectively in person, email, and on the phone
Ability to develop collaborative working relationships that foster a positive working environment with an emphasis on teamwork
Attention to detail and ability to organize and manage time and tasks independently
Ability to prioritize work assignments and adjust tasks as needed

Preferred for this job:

Fluency in languages other than English
Insertion and removal of long acting contraception
Experience with motivational interviewing skills
Unless ineligible, a Buprenorphine Waiver as a requirement for all medical providers with a DEA license (except School-Based Health Center providers). Providers without this waiver will be required to sign up for this waiver after hire.

Required qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited School of Medicine or Osteopathy
Completion of a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine residency
Licensed as a Physician (MD/DO) in the State of Washington
Current board certification (Family Medicine or Internal Medicine) as appropriate to credentials
Current BLS Certification
DEA License
1 year in a supervisor/manager position

Preferred qualifications:

Strong preference for experience as both a provider in direct patient care
Experience in leading and supervising people and/or teams
Contraceptive Implant Certification
Bilingual in a language frequently used by patients
Experience prescribing buprenorphine or other treatments for opioid use disorders, including past completion of a buprenorphine waiver certification course or specific continuing education to satisfy the requirements for the DEA's Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act.
Experience working in a school setting
Experience working in a leadership role with a diverse team of health care providers and administrators

Compensation

The wage range for the MD/DO position is a minimum of $74.50/hour up to $111.82/hour maximum.
