The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida is seeking to hire a full-time Job Coach. The Job Coach will be responsible for the provision of on-the-job supervision and support for Miccosukee employment and training participants including youth and young adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities in finding and maintaining employment. The role requires providing job training, job coaching, developing and implementing accommodations. In addition, the role requires providing support to participants as well as the different worksites or departments within the community to ensure that work tasks are accurately, effectively and independently performed. A Bachelor in Special Education is required.
Preferred:
- Experience working with youth and young adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
- Ability to work with diverse clientele with unique abilities.
- Utilizing customized employment strategies is preferred.
- Counseling, mentoring, and job coaching skills
Essential Functions
The job coach will work under the supervision of the Director of Employment and Training Department on the following:
· Support program participants in their pursuit for gainful employment in the Miccosukee community (e.g., work experience at tribal departments/internship sites, etc.)
· Engage in activities that support participant skill development such us life skills and work readiness skills
· Acknowledge participant strengths and talents, and encourage them to find ways to use them
· Be an active listener and offer support and encouragement
· Motivate participant by demonstrating professionalism and enthusiasm
· Supervise and monitor participants on the job to ensure work site policies and procedures are being met.
· Assist in transportation when necessary
· Facilitates and encourages appropriate social interactions and cooperative relationships between participants and other employees at different tribal departments
· Models' productive behavior, encourages independence, and teaches behaviors that lead to personal and professional growth
· Ensure participants are making progress towards goals and support transition to employment activities before the end of training experience.
· Effectively communicates with the Employment and Training Department staff, worksite employers, and employees.
· Maintain accurate participant records and provide ongoing follow up support and services
· Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to the Employment and Training Department
Degree recommended: Bachelor's in special education and Teacher/ Coach Certification
Minimum salary recommended: Starting salary for a 12-month teacher: $55,172
