Director of Athletics and Campus Activities Coordinator
Reports to: Head of School
Hours: Full-Time, 12-month position. Must allow flexibility according to the needs of the program. May include evenings and weekends for special events.

Holy Family Institute (HFI) is a 120-year-old Catholic organization with an impeccable history of serving children and families in the Pittsburgh Region. We are one of Pittsburgh’s largest social service organizations operating 15 programs in three counties. Director of Athletics & Coordinator of Campus Activities
Nazareth Prep seeks a passionate and experienced leader to join our team as the Director of Athletics and Coordinator of Campus Activities. In this dynamic role, you will oversee all aspects of our athletic program, ensuring its smooth operation and alignment with the school's mission of academic excellence and student well-being. You will also play a key role in coordinating engaging campus activities that foster a vibrant school community.
Athletic Program Leadership:
● Academic Support & Eligibility: Prioritize student-athlete academic success by working closely with teachers, coaches, and parents to ensure academic eligibility.
● Budget Management: Develop and manage the athletic department budget in collaboration with the Director of Administration and Operations and Finance. Maintain financial transparency and conservative spending practices.
● Concessions Management: Oversee the concessions program, ensuring efficient operations and timely remittance of all proceeds to the Director of Administration and Operations and Finance following each event.
● Coaching Staff Management: Recruit, hire, and mentor qualified coaches, fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes both athletic and academic performance of students. Evaluate coaching performance and provide ongoing support.
● Program Development: Lead the development and oversight of all athletic programs, ensuring compliance with all governing bodies and promoting equity in access, play, and practice time for girls' and boys' teams.
● Communication & Collaboration: Effectively communicate program goals, policies, and schedules to student-athletes, parents, coaches, and school administration. Emphasize the integral connection between athletics and academics, and build strong working relationships with teachers and administrators.
● Fundraising & Resources: Collaborate with the central fundraising team to secure resources for athletic programs, upholding fiscally responsible practices.
● Performance Tracking: Maintain accurate performance records for all athletic teams, tracking wins, losses, and individual achievements.
● Travel & Tournaments: Coordinate all athletic travel arrangements and secure approval for tournament participation from school administration and Holy Family Institute (HFI) leadership.
Campus Activities Coordination:
● Community Building: Collaborate with the Head of School and the Director of Administration and Operations and teacher committees to plan monthly community days.
● Student Service: Facilitate and encourage student participation in service opportunities within the school community and broader Pittsburgh area.
● Overall Coordination: Support the planning and execution of various campus activities, fostering a positive and engaging school environment.
● Energize the school spirit: Collaborate with the Head of School and staff committees to plan and execute exciting events like spirit weeks and homecoming celebrations.
● Cultivate community: In coordination with the Director of Operations and Administration, assist in organizing staff committees for key school events like homecoming, baccalaureate, convocation, prom, and graduation.
● Spark student engagement: Help coordinate engaging campus life events like quarterly Nazareth Prep nights and monthly Nazareth Prep goes to the movies.
Teaching Responsibilities:
● Teach a half-credit physical education course each semester.
● Teach a half-credit health course each semester.
● Oversee all student health and physical education records to ensure compliance with state graduation requirements.
Qualifications:
● Master's degree in Sports Administration, Education Leadership, or a related field (preferred).
● Minimum of 3 years of experience in athletic administration at the high school level.
● Proven track record of success in managing budgets, ensuring academic eligibility, and promoting sportsmanship.
● Strong understanding of interscholastic athletic regulations and best practices.
● Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
● Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including students, parents, coaches, teachers, and administrators.
● Commitment to fostering a culture of academic excellence and athletic achievement.

Current Act 33/34 and FBI clearances with a valid PA driver’s license required
