The Patient Transportation Coordinator organizes the transportation schedule supporting our patient's needs at various clinic locations. You will act as a primary point of contact and interact with transportation drivers, patients, staff members, and patients' family and friends.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Establishes and maintains communication with patients and coworkers to improve quality of service and customer satisfaction.
- Answer incoming calls from staff to schedule transportation services to and from appointments to various clinic locations.
- Assures all transportation requests are completed according to guidelines and routes are scheduled to ensure efficiency.
- Identify if the patient has impairments or limitations that require special attention so that they are properly cared for during transport.
- Notify management and drivers of the next day's driving schedule prior to leaving each day and ensure any same-day changes are reported timely.
- Assess patient satisfaction with transportation arrangements.
- Assist with transporting patients to support business needs.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes recommendations to improve the patient experience as it pertains to transporting needs.
- Additional duties as assigned by management supporting the transportation team.
- Respects and protects patient confidentiality by keeping all sensitive and patient information private.
- Follows all protocols and procedures to ensure safe delivery of patients and medical equipment and supplies.
- Maintains a secure, clean, and healthy work environment by adhering to the standards and regulations that are set forth by Valora and local, state, and federal governments,
- Routinely complies with the standards set forth by OSHA and HIPAA.
- Regularly participates in ongoing education to improve knowledge and skills.
Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is required
- CPR Certified is a plus
- 2+ years experience in organizing transportation schedules for customers
- 2+ years of driving patients or persons to appointments or other meetings
- 2+ years experience in a healthcare setting is preferred
- Must have reliable transportation to commute to and from work daily
- Must have proficient knowledge on how to operate an iPhone to schedule and track routes for drivers, check emails, and other applications needed for business purposes
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Highest quality of customer service and empathy skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of staff and a patient population composed of diverse cultures
- Impeccable organization and time management skills
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and composure when challenged
- Attention to detail and thorough documentation
